I wonder why you use a 20-80 scale for scouting, actually. As for me, I prefer the 1-100 scale, for some reason, in truth. I'm not entirely sure why, but I think it is the most specific in terms of granularity, when it comes to ratings and all, to date in the game. Care to elaborate?
I like teams with good speed, good pitching, good defense, and good versatility often for their players. Not so much a fan of high-scoring games, however. When I build a team normally, from scratch at the start of a dynasty, I generally choose players as young as possible, whenever possible, for various reasons. Of course, it may not always be easy for me to start a franchise off with a good first season, but I usually try to build around those principles mentioned above of speed, pitching, defense, and versatility, at the least. IF I have to have at least one older player on a roster at the start of things, I generally try to have as few players as possible over an age of 27-30, for my inaugural team's roster.
Also I often try to draft players who won't necessarily cause any potential problems in the clubhouse either, if not those who can be leaders or captains in it. I usually try to start picking players up the middle, before I select the rest of the team, too. Good contact and good eye ratings are often a plus for me, I think, but as I said, I generally try to build around the core principles mentioned above. Power ratings aren't necessarily very important to me, on average. Or at least they generally aren't very important to me at the start of a dynasty, if not always, either. Just so you know, jg2977. CD out.
