The Rays continue to make history, but this time the wrong way as they were beaten 19-1 at Tropicana Field by the Dodgers in the largest rout in World Series history to drop the Series opener.
Dustin May did not have it against his old team and the guy he was traded for, Randy Arozarena, broke a 1-1 tie in the 3rd by leading off with his 8th homer of the postseason and the 27th of his career, and the rout was on. Arozarena wound up homering again in a 9-run 9th against the hapless
Alex Vesia and now stands one homer from Manny Ramirez' career postseason mark. Otherwise there wasn't much to say other than
Drew Rasmussen looked great over his 2 innings. It only counts as one loss but
Joe Ryan will need to keep the ball in the park (good luck) tomorrow so the Rays don't go back to California in yet another deep hole.
