1914 - Under the Hood
- Miracle puts too fine a point on it, methinks, as the Braves – led by former Cubs legend Johnny Evers – recover from a 26-40 start to go 72-19 for the rest of the season including a sweep of the A’s in the World Series.
- Joe Connolly, who only played in the bigs for four seasons, never won a batting title. Nor did career .292 hitter Heinie Groh.
- Boardwalk Brown never led the league in ERA.
- Bullet Joe Bush threw a no-hitter in 1916. Bill James, Rip Hagerman, Fritz Coumbe, Rube Benton, Jim Shaw, Joe Boehling or Larry Cheney never threw one.
- Willie Mitchell never led the league in Ks nor threw a no-no.
- Bobby Veach hit for the cycle in 1920. Gus Williams and Jack Fournier never did.
