MY LIFE IN 1957
EC's Lookin' for Heaven in '57
Ahh... June, 1957 is truly a great time to listen to the radio... that's where most of us got our music in the 50s... no one had really started collecting records yet except for the dizzy lizzies, the ditzy teenyboppers who fell in love with teenage idols Elvis, Ricky Nelson and Pat Boone... those teenyboppers bought almost all of the 45s sold at that time and dominated the pop Billboard chart... 33 RPM albums were just coming out and only old folks bought them for adult pop, broadway musicals and classical music... yep, 45s were the thing for the young gals and little darlin's.
Let's go back to the 3rd of June, 1957... on the radio the whole wide USA was listening to Pat Boone and his #1 song "Love Letters in the Sand"... he replaced Elvis Presley and "All Shook Up" which had been the top song for 8 weeks in a row.
