2027 - Report #42
Now that the trading deadline has passed the news is a bit quieter
American League Player of the Week goes to Dublin Outlaws rookie outfielder George Gore. Gore goes 12 for 17 while hitting 3 homers and driving in 11 runs. He has hit 33 homers and has driven in 95 runs this year for Dublin who are tied for 2nd in the AL World Division and 6 games behind the first place Tokyo Alligators
Dude Esterbrook of the Jones Beach Jets wins the NL Player of the Week award as he slugs 8 homers and drives in 12 runs while going 15 for 26 in a monstrous week. Esterbrook has torn the cover off the ball for Jones Beach with 46 homers, 119 RBI's and a .332 average. Jones Beach has hung in the NL East race in 5th place 9 games behind both the Brooklyn Brawlers and New York Mets. Esterbrook is an odd case study as he just hit 13 homers for the mighty Memphis Cougars in his first 4 years and has 147 homers in 4 seasons off Ocean Parkway.
Newly acquired Bill O'Hara of the Tijuana Pelicans is now out for the season with a broken kneecap. He had 13 homers for Tijuana and his former team the Guadalajara Bighorns. Tijuana is clinging to a 2 game lead in the NL Tropical Division over the Key West Condors. The injury occurred in a 10-5 road loss to the St Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium at a collision at 2nd base with Cardinals SS Carlos Guillen.
Miami Marlins slugging first baseman Hal Trosky hit his 400th career homer today as the Marlins torched the Tahiti River Sharks 10-2 on the road at Moorea Stadium. Trosky hit his 38th homer of the season off of Joe Edelen in the 9th inning to make it 400 for his career all with the Marlins. Joc Pederson hit 2 homers and drove in 4 runs for Miami in the win.
Frankie Frisch had a huge 5 hit game today for the Redding Missions as they destroyed the Santa Fe Impact 11-1 on the road at Aggie Park. Frisch goes 5 for 6 and drives in 3 runs and is hitting .269 in his rookie season. Dick Newsome pitched 5 strong innings to get the win for Redding.
The San Jose Skeeters have been a mess all year as they watch first year teams outperform them. Ty Cobb went to Pied Piper the ownership company of San Jose and demanded the heads of the GM and Manager after the trade for the controversial Rudy Guiliani. Ownership decided to fire the GM Nate Proctor and Manager Roman Faulkner. Given the odd situation there, no one wanted the job so they found two guys in the mail room and made them GM and Manager. Jose Tena from Jackson, MI was pulled out of the tech department to be the new general manager and their manager becomes Gregg Clark who is a Centennial, Colorado man who really just works in the mail room.
