I'm playing a Historical career mode of the Yankees franchise, starting in 1901. Fast forward to the 1906 draft, my first pick, Rube Marquard, accepted my slot offer, but was not put on my team. He wasn't in free agents, either. When you search for him, I tried manually putting him on my team through editor, but it wouldn't work. I was able to assign him to another team, then release him and try to sign him as a free agent, but that didn't work, after like ten tries. No matter how much money I offered, he always signed with someone else. Then I injured him for the year, assigned him to another team and forced a trade. The trade went through, but he still didn't get assigned to my team, he got sent to the free agent pool.

This happened again in my next new player draft. All my picks agreed to terms, but none went to my team.

How do we fix this??
