Database Player Weight Reviews, Corrections & Requests
In working through and updating many of the facegens, I have come across numerous players that, because of the in-game effect of height & weight, cannot have reasonably accurate facegens.
For example, when creating a facegen, a heavyset individual has an fg file that already accounts for their weight - as it should. The face becomes comically large and wide, however, once the fg is put in the game because the game itself also adds weight to the face based on the player's weight (relative to his height). So, the weight is added twice. Even when one adjusts the fg file and makes it radically gaunt to counteract this in-game extra weight addition, it is never enough to overcome the auto-weight gain.
There are also times where the in-game weight is unusually low, or the height/weight is simply incorrect and the facegen also suffers accordingly.
In this thread, I'll call out players that have this issue. It is my hope that the OOTP Database team will consult this thread every so often and consider revising the weights in the database, as appropriate. The sticky thread on Historic Databases Issues is where I had put a few requests previously but that's too important a thread for things such as this. It is nonetheless still important to get the weight to a level that is both reasonably accurate (relatively speaking because weight can fluctuate over the course of a career) and where the facegens don't look ridiculous when people play the game.
Here's the first example:
Paul Goldschmidt (goldspa01) has an OOTP weight of 245 lbs. bRef has his weight at 220 lbs. Fangraphs has his weight at 220 lbs. His height in all cases is 6' 3". Below is the facegen at 245 lbs and then again at 220 lbs. Please consider changing the database to 220 lbs.
