Although it's a bit disappointing that the game decides to split the season exactly in the middle. Leagues didn't always have equal halves, preferring instead to end the first half on July 4 or on a weekend when they could hold double-headers. The Negro Leagues, for example, traditionally ended the first half of the season on July 4.
