The Avs and Blackhawks split their season series with each team winning their two home games and dropping a pair on the road. Three of the four games were shutouts: the Avs shutting out Chicago in Denver twice and Chicago shutting out the Avs once with the fourth game, the last one chronologically, ending with a 5-2 Chicago victory.
One of those trends continued in game 1 of the playoff series between these two- there was a shutout. The other trend ended, as it was Colorado scoring the road victory to start the series.
Terry Ross stopped all 21 shots on goal in this one,
Aleksandr Dugin played a great game on both sides of the ice,
Jack McCaffrey, who has often been the worst player on the ice for the Avs this season, was the surprise #1 star in the game, and veteran LW
Brian Hughes continued to be one of our most consistent excellent performers.
