Yes, this can be done. Here are the steps:

1. Create your league and all the teams. Sounds like you did this.
2. Delete all the players in the league
3. Make a list of all the players you want and the respective year you want to reflect them in. So, for Ted Willaims do you want 1941 or 1946? For Pedro Martinez, 1999 or 2000?
4. Import those players from the Free Agent Screen (far right drop down, Actions>Import Historical Players). You are going to use the Baseball-Reference code at the end of the player's bRef page as the import code (Teddy Williams is willite01 for example). Then put the year you want to conjure them up from.
5. To get them in an Inaugural Draft, import them all and then when all your desired players are free agents, go to league settings and hit the schedule fantasy draft button, this will empty all of the free agents into the inaugural draft pool.
