I once lived near Duluth, and would sometimes watch the UMD hockey games on TV, around the time Brett Hull, for instance, played for them in college before he went to the Flames. While the colors I used for the NABA-related version of the Bulldogs may not be exactly like the ones UMD's teams use/used, et cetera, I tried to stay somewhat close to them, if not use the exact colors they do/did, in any case. I eventually moved out of the area with my family, though, and haven't lived near Duluth ever since. I've spent much of my life in Minnesota, in fact, at that.
Minnesota can be rather cold and snowy in winter, for sure. In summer, though, it can be nice at times, in places, it seems to me. I've only lived in a few areas of it, so I can't tell you just what it's like personally in other areas of the state I've not been in for a long enough time, if at all, as well.
It was fun being in northeastern Minnesota when I went to a summer youth camp called Camp Buckskin in 1990 for about a month, but I wasn't living around there at the time. I started work on developing Slaabovia and other settings around that time, if not at that exact time. As for the following summer, I worked for a couple of months based out of St. Croix State Park near Hinckley, Minnesota, as a Corpsmember for the Minnesota Conservation Corps. I met a number of very nice people then, and I'm still in fairly regular contact with two of them, even after more than 30 years of knowing them now, for sure.
I have seen a good deal in my life, and met a lot of people, but I don't get out much, if at all, especially seeing as I can't drive, among other reasons. Basically, I don't really associate with many people in reality, unless it's online, now, in truth. And while Kaneva is no more, I still remember it quite well, and I miss talking to a lot of people from there, of course. Fortunately, I have found this place online, and I'm generally glad to be here and have more people to talk to now in my life, who I probably wouldn't have ever had a chance to, if certain things had not happened for me and/or them since I first came here. People like EC, for example. I'm glad to be able to get to know him better in my life, as more time passes for us both in our lives, and I try to thank God every chance I get for the ability to get to know more about this world and more about people through the Internet than I probably ever would have learned without the Internet ever existing, for sure.
Talk more later, as time permits and all, I'm sure, folks. Lord willing and all, of course, that is, you know. CD out.
