An Observation; A Question

So in my AtHoL save there's some very interesting subtext going on.

I have a player by the name of Harry McChesney. IRL he played just 22 games in 1904 for a grand total of 0.1 WAR. In the game, he is appropriately represented thus:

Now as you can see from that screenshot, Harry has done OK for us. Slashed 327/383/436 last season and gave us half a win. But he only plays RF and we just can't carry a mono-positional player. So he has been on the RR most of this year.

This is where it gets interesting. He is rated a CAPTAIN.

Only small sample size, I know, and I haven't kept exact records, but there's no doubt that as soon as he is sent down, our performance as a team suffers. More to the point, when he isn't in the active squad, our Bench coach refuses to comment on the team's chemistry, saying something along the lines of "I haven't had enough time to assess this, check back later in the season". This is the league's second season and it is happening again this year.

Roster expansion just kicked in, so I called Harry and a few others up. Suddenly, this from the BC.

Now as you can see, it's not as if we have a dodgy personality mix. Two other captains, a leader / sparkplug in Sewell. Just one outspoken guy. That's it.

I don't mind this one bit, it adds to the challenge (although I do not use personality and morale in my purely historical saves as they are just too random). But it is all rather bizarre, as if the BC is auditioning to be Harry's agent or something.

The question: has anyone else experienced this sort of thing?

Thanks

G
