I'm not sure who that player is, but it isn't Wares. That uniform style was worn by the
1939-45 Browns. Here is a picture of Wares in 1938, just prior to that era. He was a coach for the Cardinals from 1930-52; during the years when that picture could have been taken, he was obviously older than the player shown.
