Charles Boyd Danville 1888
The Old Judge card set has a card of Charles Boyd, identified with the Chicago Maroons of the 1888 Western Association. Boyd was signed in February, and was last mentioned in a writeup in the Chicago newspapers in March. He never played with the Maroons, but did play with Danville later in 1888 (boyd--001---). No biographical information is known for Boyd (that I am aware of)... until now.
[Deleted information about Charles Newton Boyd... wrong guy!]
Upon further review, C.N. Boyd was Comma (short for Commadore) Nathaniel Boyd. It seems "Charles", as published in the Chicago papers in February and March 1888, was just wrong. Never post things after midnight...
Boyd may also have played for Leavenworth in 1886. Baseball-reference identifies Botd as the player, but box scores and articles identify the player as Boyd, playing first base, the same position Boyd played in college.
