I usually set injuries to Low. I find that works very well. You usually get a couple of guys a year that will have career ending injuries and you also get plenty of people being out for shorter periods of time. Setting it higher than that seems to produce way too injuries and most of the better players in the league miss way too much playing time in my opinion.
I also agree about setting certain players to injury prone. I think guys like Mark Fidrych, Mo Vaughn, Ken Griffey, and others should also be edited to Injury Prone for the best results. This doesn't mean they will get hurt for sure but sooner or later things seem to even out.
