Many interesting ideas here. I'll add a few.
1. Have a full playoff history for each team. As opposed to just noting if a team made the playoff's or not each year, it would be great to note at least how far they got (division series, championship series, etc.) and if possible the W-L for the series.
2. Improve conversation on visits to the mound. Most replies simply note whether the pitcher is tired or not. It is strange to visit the mound after a pitchers gives up 5 hits in a row to have him reply "I have yet to break a sweat." Clearly the coach is out there for another reason, whether it is too check on mechanics, provide confidence, tell him to toughen up or lighten the moment. Sometimes coaches go out to the mound to offer advice on a certain batter, or to clearly warm up a reliever. A greater diversity of replies that fit the situation would make this more realistic and interesting.
Also, are some pitchers more likely to improve from a mound visit than others? Might it help some and anger others? Is there any way to better understand what impact this has on performance other than warming up a bullpen arm?
3. Show pitcher's fielding ratings just like all other fielders. They are a fielder like everyone else and in OOTP seem to make a whole lot of errors. Why not show this?
4. Offer runners a "green light" option to steal if they feel they can read the pitcher. The current system is very limiting and forces a manager to make choices (a forced steal or a forced take for the batter) that do not replicate real game play.
5. As others have noted, I would like to options for focus in spring training, such as learning a new pitch for pitchers or working on a new position for fielders. The intelligence or work ethic of the player could contribute to their success/failure. And perhaps focusing on one thing could take away from general development
6. On a similar note, it would be nice to be able to send younger players to the winter leagues to brush up on raw skills sets as well.
7. It would be very useful in Spring Training to be able to have more than a 6-man rotation so you can have more players compete for spots in the rotation.
8. It would be very useful when making trades to be able to filter out players for intangibles. For example, I am not interested in players with a low work ethic. It would be great to note this when I am shopping players so I can get return offers that match what I am looking for.
9. I am sure others have noted this but it would be great to be able to offer more than 2 players at once when shopping players around.
10. It would be very useful to have statistics for pitchers for the first, second, third and fourth time through the order.
