PELICANS WIN SI SECONDARY LEAGUE FLAG WITH A FANTASTIC COMEBACK IN 11 INNINGS
In a fantastic finish to a truly fine season the St. Pete Pelicans wrapped up the South Island Secondary League pennant with a flourish coming back from an 11-run deficit to sink the beleaguered and befuddled Gull Lake Sailors 14-11 in a high-scoring homer-filled affair.
The outlandish comeback gave St. Pete an 8-3 mark, one half-game better than Gull Lake at 8-4... the Pelicans will be promoted to the South Island Supreme League next year, trading places with the Columbia Black Cats (2-8).
