Manuel Canales
The Amsterdam Lions topped the San Antonio Calzones of Laredo, 3-1, in Imperial League action at Stadium Urbanus. The standout performance belonged to Amsterdam pitcher and Santiago, Dominican Republic, native
Manuel Canales. Canales got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 5 hits and walked 0 over 5.2 innings. Canales allowed no runs.
Kelsey Buck, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but
Carl Ford didn't flinch. With the bases loaded and San Antonio trailing 3-1, Ford retired
Yasunari Fujihara to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Ford, with a wink.
The Lions, now 4-1, have been playing some good baseball.
