Game 1: Jon Soranno continued his consistently inconsistent season by getting rocked for 6 runs in 5 innings by the struggling Orioles, and the Rays dropped the opener of their homestand 7-4. Soranno was hit for 3 runs in the 2nd and then 3 more on a Kevin Kane (a lefty) homer in the 5th to finish 5 8 6 6 2 3 and fall to 8-4, 4.87. Tony Rey also continued to struggle, allowing a run in 2/3 of an inning and has become basically unusable. Eric Titcombe hit HR #29 and the Rays did bring the tying run to the plate in the 9th, but Omar Rodriguez grounded out to end the game.

Game 2: Jaiden Hardaway hit his 15th HR of the year (and 4th in his last 7 games) in the bottom of the 8th inning to give the Rays a 1-0 win over Baltimore at Publix Park. Tim Gates started for the Rays and was excellent (6.1 3 0 0 3 8) in lowering his ERA to 2.97 while Tim Siqueiros went 1 2/3 for his 6th win of the season. With three lefties due up, Jim Golunski got the call instead of Kikuo Kawase and did the job, retiring them 1-2-3 for his 4th save of the season. Baltimore was held to 3 hits while the Rays only managed 5 with Hardaway and Omar Rodriguez collecting 4 of them. The Rays had a golden chance to score in the 4th when they loaded the bases with nobody out but Bo Angeac struck out and Danny Ayala hit into a double play.

Game 3: For the second straight day the Rays won the game in the bottom of the 8th but the circumstances were drastically different today as they scored 8 times to overcome a 9-2 deficit to pick up an improbable 10-9 win. They looked dead and buried after Jeremy Curtis was tagged for a 4.1 10 5 5 1 4 line and Jeff Reece served up a 3-run homer to former Rays property Danny Roush. The deficit was so big that Tony Rey came in to pitch and he unsurprisingly allowed a run, too. But the Rays just kept the turnstiles moving in the 8th, with some help from an error from Oriole 3B Eric Hall (normally a CF by trade), and Jaiden Hardaway singled in a pair to make it 9-8, Omar Rodriguez singled to tie it, and Eric Titcombe drove in his second run of the day and the game-winner with a single of his own. Kikuo Kawase came in and picked up save #22, and Rey managed his 3rd win of the year. Bo Angeac (#21) homered for one of the first two Rays runs.

Team record: 72-28. Next up: Detroit comes to town for 3.
