Well, I usually do it one of two ways. The first is just to go to Hockey Reference, get the list of NHL debuts for any given season, and make facegens for all the guys that don't have one yet.

The second is a bit tougher, but more comprehensive: Play out each season, then on July 1 go to Scouting, then Roster. It'll give you all the not-yet-drafted guys and free agents. You can then do it based on birth year, since new guys get put in every year. This lets you get some career minor leaguers and European league lifers that you wouldn't get using the other method.

If you want to just do teams, though, that still helps a lot! Pretty much any of the "Original Six" era is up for grabs, except for some of the really big stars. Thanks for the offer, and whatever you want to add is much appreciated, since you're one of the best FHM facegen guys.
