Ok, I'll take a shot.
I am going to assume you want players to retire the same year as in real life. Select the historical tab and half way down on the left side are a couple items you can "check".
" Players retire according to history" and
"Players miss seasons according to history". Check this if you want them to miss any season they missed in real life due to injury, war, etc..
