1985 - NLCS - Game 2

Game 2 started off with Cincinnati’s Tommy Boggs (10-2, 3.23) facing off against New York’s Lamar Hoyt (15-10, 3.66) in Shea Stadium. Cincinnati jumped out to a 3-0 lead scoring 2 runs in the first and 1 in the 3rd. The teams traded runs in the later innings including a homers by Mets Kent Hrbek and Dave Parker to bring the score to 4-3 with Cincinnati leading as we went into the bottom of the 9th. Jeff Lahti came in for the Reds to try to shut it down but a lead-off double by Harold Reynolds, an infiteld hit by Tony Gwynn, and a wild pitch allowed Reynolds to score the tying run. Lahti got the next 2 hitters out but a single by Dave Parker scored Gwynn to give the Mets a walk-off win and a 2-0 lead in the NLCS. Parker earned the Player of the Game award going 3/5 with a HR and 3 RBI’s, including the game winner.

New York leads the series 2-0
