2026 - Report #7
Some things happening at the 15 game mark of the season
In a huge blockbuster trade today the Utah Saints desperately trying to get starting pitching sent OF Jimmy Wynn to the Columbus Barracudas for a package of interesting players. Dwight Schrute, Al Hrabosky, Tony Boeckel, Dizzy Dean and Frank Riccelli are all heading to Salt Lake. Columbus adds a very cantankerous player in Schrute who is 71-72 over his career with no more than 11 wins in any season. One wonders how a deranged Amish guy can function in Ladder Day saint area. Utah also lands the Mad Hungarian in Hrabosky who has amassed 71 saves in his time with Columbus. Wynn is a power hitter that could never get a regular spot in the Utah lineup and with 113 career homers and 213 career swipes.
The Glasgow Barons lost their starting catcher Tomas Telis for the season with a ruptured achilles tendon. Telis suffered the injury on the road at Winnipeg in a 6-4 lost to the Wolf Pack. Al Spohrer will be the everyday catcher now for Glasgow.
Mike Kreevich has endured in the league because of expansion and today at 38 years old announced he will retire at the end of the season for the Monte Carlo Blazers. Kreevich has 104 career homers for 9 different teams.
Jack Smith was named National League Player of the week for the Tulsa Rattlers. Smith hit 6 homers and drove in 16 runs while batting .520 for Tulsa. Tulsa is in 3rd place in the NL Midwest trailing the Memphis Cougars and New Orleans Zebras by one game
American League awarded player of the week to Yonder Alonso of the Foxwoods Colonials. Alonso went 15 for 27 with 6 homers and 15 RBI's. Foxwoods is in 2nd place in the NL East trailing the first place Buffalo Bisons by 2 games.
