One easy option is to save a compressed (zipped) copy of your league. I save multiple versions. Use any compression program. SevenZip, WinZip, WinRar, IZARC.

Using Seven Zip as an example. Right click on the league folder. Click on 7_Zip/add to "myleague.lg.7z". This will make a copy of the league that is @ 1/2 the original size.

I then rename the 7z file. Use something similar to myleague.lg.v1.7z. The next time you create a backup change the name to myleague.lg.v2.7z. Keep as many backups as you like. You can then restore any one by renaming your league folder (such as myleague bad) and then clicking on the 7z file and click on 7-zip/extract to "myleague.lg". Verify that the league is working as you want it. Save it in-game. Delete the myleague bad folder.
The reason you don't overwrite the bad folder is that it may contain some files you don't want. You are basically going back in time just like Marty McFly.
