I’ve noticed that sometimes players in my minor league system jump up and down in their ratings, not as a result of natural TCR, but for seemingly no reason at all.

For example: I have a catcher named Taylor Smith in my farm system. Most times, his ratings read 40 OVR 55 POT, but out of nowhere he will drop to 30 OVR 40 POT. And then go back up to 40/55. And then drop back to 30/40. And the cycle repeats. Will the ratings eventually stabilize so I can get an accurate read on whether this guy will be a serious prospect for me, and is there any reason for why this happening?
