 Thanks for the suggestion.  My zip file use is self taught and only to the bare minimum 

 I do have all of the info I want for each park already in park folders trimmed to what I know I need to keep\replace.  I had not thought about zipping them.
The audience file I mentioned does not contain the 3d crowds after the patch.  That file still holds 2d crowds.  Instead each stadium has a "audience.pod" file in the same model folder that holds all of the ads, ootp.3d files etc. 
This means the patch only added the audience.pod to my folder while not overwriting the rest.  I'm thinking this is another Steam advantage as the store version is the whole new .exe file.
The first place I saw real ads in a stadium was in your historic ballpark pack.  They added so much to the game and I was thinking "too bad this can't be done with the default parks".  Then along came micropterus58 and itsmb8 finding a way 
 
I'm glad they made this thread a sticky.  I was about to bump it up before it disappeared
