News of the Week
24 April 2300 - Season Over for Longo: The Cherry Ghoulrillas have lost the services of Bingo Longo for the rest of this season. He suffered a broken kneecap in a recent ballgame and the follow-up report from the medical staff is not good. Longo is out for the year.
This season Longo is batting .250 with 5 hits, 1 home run, 3 RBIs, .348 OBP and has scored 5 runs.
25 April 2300 - Diner Shuts Out Quartz, 8-0: A favor to his bullpen. That's what John Diner was doing at Star Core Stadium at the Galactic Zone today as he blanked the Quartz Star Force in a 9-inning complete game shutout.
"I went out there to try to eat up innings and help out our bullpen," the Victory Cave Crickets right-hander said later. "I felt I had my good stuff, and it turned out my command was solid."
Diner notched 6 strikeouts, surrendered 1 walk, allowed 2 hits, and kept the bullpen phone quiet all day long.
26 April 2300 - Cherry Draws Blanks Against Greaves: Logan Greaves kept the Ghoulrillas from doing any damage to the Gatorclaws today at Angry Anaconda Field at Safari Adventure. Cherry's 4 hits and 1 walk came to naught as Wild took the contest 4-0. Greaves added 8 strikeouts in his complete-game effort.
27 April 2300 - Wild Hopeless Against Gee: The Dark Bloodworms rolled to an easy 9-0 win over the Wild Gatorclaws at Angry Anaconda Field at Safari Adventure today. Leading the way to victory was starter Warren Gee, who shackled the Wild Gatorclaws and held them scoreless on a 3-hitter.
"This is what every pitcher wants to do when they go out there," Gee said in his postgame press conference.
30 April 2300 - Star of the Week Honored in NWL: 21-year-old Mike Drummerboy made a few Wild headlines during this past week as the rookie catcher proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Nuka World League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.
He cracked 10 hits in 17 at-bats to put up a .588 average. Drummerboy collected 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
