I think NHL awards should follow history. It didn't really bother me though, until I played through a historical game starting in 1994-95 and Mark Messier won the
Mark Messier Leadership Award in 1995. This just seems wrong. This award debuted in 2006-07, so it probably shouldn't be awarded in historical games until this time, or at least a couple years after Messier retires. Vancouver fans probably want to disable this award altogether
, but I won't get into that right now.
