With OOTP I have a 2560*1440 monitor so this may never come up but I would not want OOTP to automatically make a scroll bar for any views I create. I would rather my numbers were scrunched and I could decide if I wanted to live with that or make a second view. Or as I type this it comes to mind maybe they could do this for smaller resolution screens and leave widescreen resolutions untouched? Though for total control by the user I think a "use horizontal scroll bars YN" option would be best. Same as allowing page or scrolling on "long list" screens we have now.
As far as your original request on alignments I'm in total support  I think FM does this and also allows you to stretch or narrow each column by simply grabbing one side or the other at the top with the mouse and resizing. This "little" resizing feature allows you to get a lot more columns on the screen and would be a nice addition to OOTP
For now what I do, and perhaps you already do too, is to redo the order of some of the columns. Some fit better together than others and give the spacing needed to see the data without it being crammed together. My columns may not be sorted exactly as I want after doing this but I can usually find a compromise that works and still keeps the data organized in a way that makes sense to me. |
