2025 - Report #44
Today was the start of some trades
The Miami Marlins sent 2B George Cutshaw to the New Orleans Zebras for SP Dock Ellis. Ellis packed up his LSD and was happy to head out of Bourbon street, he was 7-3 this year for New Orleans and won 39 games over the past 3 seasons. Cutshaw heads to the Big Easy after hitting .315 in limited duty this year as he was blocked in Miami by Dustin Pedroia and Arky Vaughan in key infield positions. Said Ellis of the trade "When they called I already thought I was in Miami or not sure if it was Shangri-La, I was half a blotter into my trip"
In another trade the first place Minnesota twins bolstered their pitching staff today acquiring Buck O'Brien from the Columbus Barracudas in exchange for Ed Sprague Jr and Tony Boeckel. O'Brien was 9-5 on the year for Columbus and is a huge shot in the arm for the Twins who are going for it this year as they have a daunting 60-19 record in the NL Midwest and are 5 games ahead of the Des Moines Jaguars. Twins already have a fearful front 2 of Mike Smith and Gus Krock. Columbus is 39-40 and have made decent steps forward this year so the trade is really to get 2 offensive bats for an arm.
