Spider Clark kept it in high gear today with 5 hits and hit for the cycle for the Richmond Gamecocks in their 12-1 bashing of the Mississippi Crew in Jackson. Clark goes 5-5 for Richmond and drives in 2 runs as the first place Gamecocks keep a 2 game lead over the San Juan Storm in the AL Atlantic. Henry Rodriguez and Lyle Overbay had 3 hits each as well, while Jacob deGrom had a strong 9 strikeout performance.
The Columbus Barracudas lost a key player for the season in Wally Moses who went down with a torn posterior cruciate ligament in a game against the Beijing Airhogs in China where Columbus lost 2-1. Columbus will use Todd Dunwoody now in centerfield as they are having a solid second season at 38-37
Also out for the season is John Doyle of the Calgary Fusion. Doyle had been eating up innings for the Fusion this year and is gone due to a damaged elbow ligament that occurred in a game against the Tokyo Alligators in Japan. Tokyo won the game in 11 innings by the score of 5-4.
