Just a couple musings about my team building so far in PT22.
The Labrats are my first time doing a theme team in PT and they took a serious hit early on as I did not want to spend much on a player to fit the theme that I would just have to replace in a few weeks. I also did not go whole hog with selling off non-theme players right away, so the LabRats struggled and ended up in Rookie last week.
I have found, however, that the theme has really helped me look at my team more specifically for upgrading and I think in the end, has helped me have a team that I think I can compete with. For instance, I have Shad Berry as my backup at 1B. A Bronze 64, looks prime to be upgraded, so I find a solid low gold 1B. Start to make the change and realize that he is also my only depth for the OF. If I pull him, I need to add an extra outfielder. So I hit the card database and find a couple options for depth at all 3 spots, probably in place of my SE Griffey who can only backup CF. This is just one example, but having the theme has done a good job, for me, in focusing my thoughts.
The Bluffton Boomerangs, however, have fewer restrictions, as they have no theme, but I have found myself, after completing the Live missions, falling into buying/opening packs and hoping something good wanders along. This has allowed me to get most of the BALs to Silver, but that doesn't make my lineup, and the further BAL upgrades get pricey, so I have not found a good focus for team upgrades with the Boomerangs.
This may just be how my mind works, but yesterday, as I found myself budgeting for LabRat upgrades, I realized that I have been putting much more work in to them than I have the Boomerangs. Thanks for letting me meander for a few minutes!
