I really loved minor league baseball in the 1950s... teams had a mixture of veterans and rookies... and the teams took winning the pennant or the playoffs seriously... teams in Double A would purchase Triple A players for the stretch drive... we had the Dixie Series... which featured the playoff champ in the Southern Association against the champ in the Texas League... there was also the Triple A championship between the playoff champ of the International League and the American Association... it was called the Little World Series.

Nowadays, the minors are purely for development of the rookies... and they don't have veterans anymore.

Ahhh... the good old days of yesteryear.

Hope I don't bore you young 'uns too much.
