October 2299 - News and Notes - October 16

I thought I had made myself one of several voters, but I am now realizing I must have changed it. That's OK. Nate Howard as the chooser of award winners is fine with me. I can make a few different picks than the AI may make, like the Vim! Pitcher Award in the SCA. I don't know if the AI would have chosen Pageturner, but Pageturner HAD to be the winner after an overall season of 21-3, including 14-1 with Goodneighbor.

Oberland T-51s Ship Jerry to Abernathy

Everybody is overjoyed with a trade consummated today by the Oberland T-51s and the Abernathy Adamantium. In the deal Oberland got 22-year-old minor league RHP Eric Sleeping, 21-year-old minor league LF Z-Boy Oliveras and a 5th round draft pick from Abernathy and dealt 33-year-old RHP Gerald Jerry to the Adamantium. The general managers that made the swap are happy and the players are happy, too. One of the GMs commented, "This was a good swap for all concerned."

In his career stats, Jerry has a record of 39 wins and 33 losses and a 4.48 ERA. He has struck out 428 in 602.1 innings. His best season was in 2297 when he went 11-3 with a Railroad League-leading 3.27 ERA to earn him the 2297 RL Desdemona SP Award. In 2299, he was 5-11 with a 4.65 ERA in 23 starts.

Easy Town Signs PC Milk Bottle Dickson

The Easy Town Assaultrons have gone to the Boston Youth Development League well to sign its pitching coach in former Concord-Lexington Minuteboys skipper Milk Bottle Dickson.

While Dickson has not been successful as the top guy in the BYDL (23-27 in 2299), he has helped one of the newer squads in the BYDL develop its pitching, including two expected draft picks in the 2299 Rookie Draft, SP Austen Austin and SP Bendy Barman. Austin could go as high as the 1st round, while Barman is expected around the late-2nd to early-3rd rounds.
