We each approach the game differently - I like to manage the games because it brings the players and their performances to life as opposed to simply checking the sim results.
I'm also very hands on as a GM, especially with rebuilding or small market teams, trying to spend and save every last dollar so I'm very active transactionally. If I couldn't do this and remained hands off so that the players remain basically the same in both saves, I think I would soon lose interest.

I understand your frustration and sympathize with you. But it would be nice to get to the bottom of this and find out what is going on.
First, to see if it really is an issue that needs to be addressed, if you have seen it across six leagues and others are reporting weird issues, it makes me think that is really is an issue.
Second, we need to find out if the issue lies with those who manage their games and those who sim their games.

If there are differences between the core baseball engine when you manage your own games and when you sim out games, then that is a massive issue that needs immediate attention.
The developers might not even know this is an issue.

So I understand your frustration and being jaded, but some further testing needs to be done so we can identify what is going on and bring it to their attention for a possible fix.
If there are issues with the core baseball engine then the entire game becomes compromised.
