It doesn't so much need to be a hardcore program, but just anything that can interfere with OOTP, especially when it writes files to the disk. Especially any sort of disk cleaner/anti-virus etc.
It might be helpful to submit a support ticket
here (or via email at
support@ootpdevelopments.com) and let the support team walk you through some troubleshooting to see if it's possible to narrow down where any issues may be coming from.
