Tonight is the rubber game in the series in Houston between the Colt .45's and the St Louis Cardinals. In the first two games of this series, the Colt .45's six unearned runs off of six Cardinals errors.

In the bottom of the second, Smith delivered an RBI single.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Colt .45's loaded the bases with two out. With the pitcher spot up, Amalfitano came home from third on a passed ball.

In the top of the fifth, the Cardinals got their first baserunner of the game when Warwick got a two-base hit with two out.

In the bottom of the fifth, Buddin scored from second on a Larker single combined with a Musial error. Aspromonte added a sacrifice fly for an RBI. Larker then scored on a two-out triple by Amalfitano.

In the bottom of the sixth, Paul Toth took the mound for the Cardinals.

After six: Houston 5 St Louis 0.

In the top of the seventh, a 404 foot three-run shot by Warwick with two out made it a brand new ballgame. Gotay made it a one-run game with an RBI triple.

In the bottom of the seventh, Ed Bauta took the mound for the Cardinals.

In the top of the ninth, with a runner on first and one out, Jim Umbricht took the mound for the Colt .45's. With runners at second and third and two out, Umbricht got pinch hitter Fred Whitfield looking to pick up the save.

The Colt .45's got 10 hits in the win.

Final score: Houston 5 St Louis 4.
