Year 2025 - Season 5 [mid-season update]

PITCHING

Garrett Crochet started out well enough but got blown up in his last two relief appearances. In went 99 Live Aroldis Chapman with his 202 STU vL to take over the Lefty Specialist role. And in 8.2 IP in 10 appearances, he's allowed 5 hits, walked 6, struck out 16, and gave up one home run. I'm intrigued enough to try the other Live Diamond RP, James Karinchak. Sure, he has horrible control but he can't do much worse than Orber Moreno (OHW 86), who after 11.2 IP in 16 games sports a WHIP of 2.40 and an ERA of 8.49, walking 12 and striking out 12.

Ray Keating (OHW 94) has been horrible. Through 70 IP in 13 starts, he's gone 1-8 with an ERA of 6.04, a WHIP of 1.73. The 53 CON is what's killing him: he's walked 46 batters to put his BB/9 at 5.9. His K/9 is at 7.1. Not a good ratio at all. He's only given up 3 home rums though. As a team, we've only given up 34 home runs, second only to the Altoona Mountain Citys - BFF, who is running a rotation full of high MOV SPsarryl Kile, Mark Langston, Daniel Lynch, Ben Tincup, and Rube Vickers.

PULLS and PURCHASES

With what Spec-money I had, I improved a few tourney teams. Today was a banner day in which I scored victories in Bronze and Silver tourneys, and placed in a Gold tourney. This resulted in 29 packs. The packs didn't result in any Diamonds, but I did net two NLS cards, Hilton Smith and Roosevelt Davis. Neither of which would improve any of my tourney teams, though I am tempted to try Davis in my Gold Non-Live 1750 Cap.

Idly scanning for Diamonds priced at less than 10K, I bought a closer: Hal Haid (RS 92). He replaced the struggling Chris Devinski. I also bought Bob Groom (SS 94), who may replace Keating. After speaking ill of Keating earlier, I realize now that he's gone 2-0 in his last 5 starts. Hope for him yet!

One of those 29 packs was my 800th pack on this login. Subtracting the Diamonds I received from 8 Diamonds packs, I've pulled 36 Diamonds. I'm still pulling a little ahead of the odds in regard to Diamonds. At 4800 cards, the odds state I should have 32. Sure, 32 of those 44 were Live Diamonds.

Out of those 800 packs, I've pulled 3 Perfects. All three were Live and two were Gerritt Cole. At 4800 cards, I should have pulled 4.
