On some of these raggedy outlines, in some cases I've found it useful to fill the background with a color matching whatever the logo originally appeared on, then use the "magic wand" in Paint Shop Pro (I'm sure there's something similar in Photoshop if that's what you're using). That sometimes will select just the logo with not much of the background color, and you can just paste it on a transparent background.
I'm sure the real talent here has other techniques to do this, but I've improved some logos from the internet that come on a black background even though they looked clean/transparent on a website. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the encouragement. By trade I'm a cartographer. So, that makes me pretty good with a mouse and drawing into the computer. But, in my field we use mostly vector files (think Adobe Illustrator). So, Image files a been a mystery to me. The main reason I kind of want to take this project onto Google Drive is I'm always iterating and learning. So I keep on improving my early work. Google Drive would make it easier to improve that work instead of having reuploading it to the forums.
