The Rangers will conclude their season-opening road trip with a three-game series in Baltimore against the Orioles.
The Rangers signed hitting coach Ryan Clapp to a 1-year, $13,000 per year contract.

In the top of the second, an RBI single by Greer put the Rangers on the board. Lee followed with his own run-scoring single. The Rangers went on to load the bases with one out. Greer scored from third when Clark grounded into the 3-6 fielder's choice.
In the bottom of the second, the Orioles loaded the bases with one out without getting a hit. Devereaux lined to third for the second out. But Sabo got a two-run single to put the Orioles on the board. A walk reloaded the bases with two out. McLemore then walked as well to bring home the tying run. A two-run single by Palmeiro put the Orioles in the lead. The Orioles scored five unearned runs in the inning along with four bases on balls.
In the top of the third, Gonzalez led off with a 349 foot home run.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Orioles went back up by two on a two-out RBI double by Ripken.
In the top of the sixth, Jim Poole took the mound for the Orioles. Hulse got a two-out RBI triple to make it a one-run game again.
In the bottom of the sixth, Rick Honeycutt took the mound for the Rangers. Palmeiro got an RBI single. With runners at first and second and one out, Jay Howell took the mound for the Rangers. An ill-advised pitching change as the first batter he faced, Hoiles, sent a three-run shot 339 feet

In the top of the seventh, Gonzalez cleared the fence for the second time in the game as he delivered a two-run home run 368 feet. With the bases empty and nobody out, Tom Bolton took the mound for the Orioles.
In the top of the eighth, Strange led off with a 368 foot homer.
In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases empty and one out, Darren Oliver took the mound for the Rangers. Palmeiro singled and then Cris Carpenter took the mound for the Rangers.
In the top of the ninth, Lee Smith took the mound for the Orioles with a two-run lead to protect. With a runner on second and two out, Greer grounded back to the pitcher to end the game.
The two teams combined for 23 hits in the contest.
Final score: Baltimore 10 Texas 8.
