Today is the second game in the series in Philadelphia between the Colt .45's and the Phillies. The less said about the series opener the better.

Mahaffey was perfect through three.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Phillies loaded the bases with one out. Mahaffey went down on strikes for the second out. Gonzalez then lined to third to end the inning with the game still a scoreless tie.

In the top of the fifth, a one-out single by Aspromonte gave the Colt .45's their first baserunner of the game.

In the bottom of the fifth, Sievers broke the scoreless tie with a 421 foot three-run homer.

After six: Philadelphia 3 Houston 0.

In the bottom of the eighth, following a lead off single, Dean Stone took the mound for the Colt .45's. Callison ended up knocking in a run with a two-out single. Billy Klaus followed with his own RBI single.

Mahaffey went on to record the complete game shutout.

The Phillies outhit the Colt .45's 11-2 in the game.

Final score: Philadelphia 5 Houston 0.
