New York Giants: not only there was the trade with Reds (CF Wid Matthews to NY), but also a trade with veteran RP Rollie Naylor coming in town from Phillies. For him, two minor leaguers were sold
Philadelphia Athletics: only minor moves
Philadelphia Phillies: many trades were made to boost the minors. The only one we still did not write about was the depart of veteran SP Bob Couchman for a RF (Thomas Wood) and a 1B (Guy Froman).
Pittsbugh Pirates: a lot of paperwork in Pittsburgh. We already wrote about trade with Cubs, but we have to note other 2 trades:
1) Acquired C Val Picinich from Senators for SS Rabbit Maranville
2) Acquired 2B Sparky Adams from Browns for two minor leaguers
St. Louis Browns: they added SS Jimmy E. Cooney from Washington for a minor leaguer and C Ernie Vick and SP James Edwards from Brooklyn
St. Louis Cardinals: quiet off-season
Washington Senators: many moves, SS Rabbit Maranville and SP Bob Couchman the most important arrivals in towns
So we are set for another season. In Spring Training Cincinnati lost SP Pete Donohue for 3 months for an harmstring strain.
Talking about Top Prospects, Bill Dickey jumped to number 1. Pre-season power rankings told that Senators and Giants were the conference winners.
