The Fresno Bashers keep rolling they won their 10th straight game today vanquishing the Tucson Tomahawks 1-0 to move to 7 games back in 3rd place the AL Pacific. The Big Train Walter Johnson (guy gets a lot love here) gave Fresno 8 solid innings fanning 12 batters and Tim Crews got his 19th save (don't go on a boat with Bob Ojeda). Jud Smith singled in a run in the 4th inning off Pete Richart. Johnson is now 12-2.
The San Antonio River Kings acquired Whiplash actor and 2nd baseman Miles Teller from the Branson Jackals in exchange for Charlie Briggs and Junior Kennedy. San Antonio acquires the veteran Teller and gives up 2 so so prospects. San Antonio is 26 games out of first and under .500 so the point of trading did not make sense. Teller was confused as well as Branson has a worse record than San Antonio but only trail the Omaha Eagles by 16 games in the AL Midwest, "I guess I am moving again, San Antonio in July sounds miserable"
Last notable trade of the day has the Washington Nationals adding a solid starting pitcher in Larry Christenson from the Winnipeg Wolf Pack, but gave up major prospect Bengie Molina as well as Josh Clarke and Steve Kealey in the deal. Washington is in 4th place, and 7 games back of the Philadelphia Phillies. Nats GM Nate Anderson defended the move "We have so many catchers in our system that Molina was a depth player. We will use Larry in the pen most likely as he can go 2 innings at a time Christenson won 14 games in 2022 for the Minnesota Twins so we are looking for that version of him" Winnipeg fans were happy about adding Molina.
