One day after the San Diego Padres dealt Kyle Seager away for pitching help, Jim Hughes (the one that piched in the 1890's not the Twin) stepped up with a 1 hit shutout of the Billings Beacons. Hughes fanned 13 batters and improved to 9-6 on the 2024 season. The only hit allowed was to light hitting Eddie Basinski. Hughes was helped by Yoan Moncada who had 3 hits and 2 RBI's and Trevor Story who had 2 hits and 3 RBI's, both guys homers in the game. Ryan Kalish of Billings fanned 4 times in the game and had this to say "Wow not sure what he smoked, drank or ate that day, but his differentiation of speeds was off the charts, Jim who?"
