2 of 162: Alex Wood (0-0, 0.00) @ Matthew Boyd (0-0, 0.00)
Loss, 7-10.
Boyd was dialed in early, keeping the San Francisco hitters off-balance and unsure of themselves until… he wasn’t – a harrowing top of the 6th frame, where 5 runners found their way home, spelled our doom, and gave San Francisco all the cushion they’d need to earn their first win of the season.
Ty France went 4 for 5, scored, and drove one in, another 2-hit day from
Meetch, and
Hedges hit his second homer in as many games. Some solid work offensively here, but the pitching came unglued during the 6th and, unfortunately, we were unable to right the ship in time to claw our way back into this one.
Rubber match tomorrow…
Sorta cool: Each of our starters finished the game with at least one hit today.
Elsewhere: CF Luis Robert, of the Chicago White Sox, went 4 for 5 with a two-bagger, two trucks, 4 RBI, and a couple of runs to lead his club to a solid 10-8 win over the Los Angeles Angels. The White Sox win despite
Trout putting two balls over the fence during the game, both off
Lance Lynn.
Record: 1-1
Up Next: We’ll close out this set against San Francisco.
