RP Norm Crone (22-L) was sent back to the Portland (AAA) roster and RP Tim Hiler (28-R) was recalled.

Charlotte Hornets (75-79 .487 27.5 GB in 5th place in the Southern Division) at
Jacksonville Jays (102-51 .667 18 GA in 1st place in the Southern Division)

CHAR: Jerry Doherty (28-L) (10-14 3.75 ERA 223 IP, 216 H, 19 HR, 81 BB, 115 SO) All-Star(04)
JAX: Tommy Corris (26-R) (15-6 2.63 ERA 225.2 IP, 197 H, 17 HR, 31 BB, 144 SO) All-Star(3: 04-06)

Doherty is 1-2 in 3 starts against the Jays this season with a CG win and a 2.86 ERA. 22 IP, 21 H, 2 HR, 6 BB, 12 SO. For a team that was 12th in fewest runs allowed coming into this series, they have an awful lot of solid starting pitchers....

Corris gave up 1 run on 5 hits and 2 walks with 5 strikeouts in 7 innings last time out in a win over Birmingham.
