However when I open the folder while there is no data that says "saved game or back-up" there is data there so I guess it is saving and backing up. So if that is not the reason why I can't restore after a crash then what is? That said it hasn't crashed since the reinstall. Well, hopefully the crashes are not a failing hard drive. Hope this install is solid for you and at least now you know where all your data is saved.
But if you DO need to use a restore,
You have to start a new game, just leave it named New Game and click start game. Dont change anything, just start the game.
Once in the game click on File, Backups, restore backups
A screen will pop up with all your backed up games in it. Click on the correct one you want to restore. Then below the list of backed up games there is a line that says "Target folder or league name"
In the line below that type in the name you want your game to be called.
once you have it typed in, hit start restore.
I created a template in a backed up game so that if I want to start a new game, I don't have to go through the 3 hours of editing minors ect. All I have to do now is start up a league, type in the name of my new game, click on restore and I have everything setup.
