Okay, I figured out how to start in 1980, erase stats, erase history and get through the first season without the Jerry Grote problem I displayed above. Did so by scheduling a inaugural draft and making sure every single player was drafted. Problem is, when I played out 1981, I ended up with the Steve Braun problem in the screenshot.
