Tuning In

Been a while since I posted here, I guess life and the such and Covid (beat that thing easily). Anyway not going to put as much detail into this like the transactions, 5 hit games etc...

We are at the 144 game mark in the season for Des Moines Jaguars they are still in it, just 2 games out of first behind the Kansas City Royals.

Tate Redinger has had a great year for sure. He has hit 41 homers and has driven in 84 runs, as he bats leadoff and has 21 stolen bases. He has exceeded expectations.

Here is the latest excerpt from his diary and screenshot of his performance

Well this has been quite a ride did not expect to make the big leagues, was marginalized in my first year and now I beat out Roberto Clemente for the rightfield job, and well I am really happy with how things have turned out.

Last year, this team was a complete mess we were going nowhere and we started off 2023 in the same manner, but we caught something when we brought Frank Baker up from the minor leagues and right now with 18 games left we just trail the Royals by 2 games. Our next 6 games are against some weak teams as we host the Caracas Toros then travel to Saskatoon to play the Beavers. If we can win 5 out of 6 that will get us closer to KC I think, then we have to host the tough Astros. Royals will host the week Reno team before having to go to Fenway Park and that will be a challenge as Red Sox are battling White Sox and Yankees for wildcard position.

In Des Moines I am widely recognized now in public and since we are a solid team, I do get mention on MLB Tonight and Sportscenter quite often. We have a solid core team here with a lot of guys going off this year. Frank Baker has been at the core with 50 homers 146 RBI's in just 129 games, he was the 4th pick overall and he is living up to billing. Ortiz has 55 homers and rookie Harry Spratt defied expectations and has hit 50 homers at shortstop. John Meister has broken 100 RBi's for first time in his career too.

Ryan Howard has 35 homers and is hitting over .300. Ortiz is hitting .380 still and Alex Arias moved to second base and is hitting over .300

Our pitching has held up. George Haddock has 17 wins, while Larry French got 14 and Reggie Miller has picked up 12 to give us a solid 3 man rotation Tyler Beede and Lou Sleater have been overmatched when they hurl. Pap has 29 saves in the pen Dave Von Ohlen is 9-0 and Cliff Curtis is 8-1, so they are 17-1 as setup men

On a personal level, I have met a lady named Nicole who is from Ankeny and is an Iowan. We have been dating for 3 months she is a local realtor and she will come back to Montauk with me in the fall, but we are hoping that our season will extend in Des Moines. Guess if we can go 5-1 while KC goes 3-3 we have a shot in the final 12 games.
