I have a late-round strategy that may or may not be a good one for multiplayer leagues but works well for solo leagues. I draft guys that fit my ideal team so that every level of the minors has those ideal guys in positions. For example, I like having fast outfielders and value speed and outfield range over some other ratings. Any outfielder I draft must be at least decently fast, even the corner outfielders. For batters in general, as much as possible, I try to get guys with higher slug % because I like players that can drive in runs a lot from 1st and 2nd.
For pitchers, I want tools guys, so as many SP as possible (assuming enough are populated in the draft--often I edit the draft class to add three pitches to more guys than are autogenerated) over RP. If I can avoid drafting someone designated RP, I do, because in real life most players drafted were their staff aces in high school and one of the top starters in college. Very few players are relievers in high school as their prime position. Very few pitchers enter the draft as two-pitch pitchers--even when I was in youth leagues, pitchers were throwing at least a fastball, changeup, and curveball--though they may have two pitches that dominate over their other pitches, thus the change to a reliever in the minors. Therefore, three+ pitches or skip, even for 30th round pitchers.
